Stairway and ladder systems

Make your platforms, ladders and stairs ergonomic and safe to work on.

Real Safety offers a range of handrail and stairway system solutions that are essential for protecting workers from accidents happening in any industry setting. Ensuring that your platforms, ladders and stairs are ergonomic and safe to work on requires selecting the right material and identifying the safety features necessary.

To make stairways or platform staircase systems between two staircases anti-slip and safe, we recommend putting down a slip-proof landing cover. It provides excellent friction and can withstand heavy foot traffic to ensure effectiveness and longevity.

Our GRP stairway and ladder system can be developed and installed to just about any size and specification. With or without linking elements. Our solutions cover GRP handrail systems, crossovers, elevated ramps with handrails, guard rails, mobile check points and safety ladder and cage systems.

We offer three systems: Heavy duty, standard duty and economy.

What are the benefits?

There are numerous benefits to stairway and ladder systems – including:

  • Modular for ease of installation
  • Increases ladders and stairs safety
  • Lightweight to increase tempo of installation
  • Systems are strong enough to take load
  • Performs well in subzero temperatures
  • Thermally non-conductive

Reducing accidents – statistics

According to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), falls from elevations are one of the leading causes of workplace fatalities and serious injuries. The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) also reported that there were 14,440 non-fatal occupational injuries involving ladders in 2019 and non-fatal occupational injuries involving stairs and stairways. According to OSHA, common violations related to stairway and ladder safety include failure to provide adequate fall protection, inadequate ladder and stair design and safety materials for workers.

These statistics illustrate the importance of implementing safe stairway and ladder systems in your workplace. Failure to do so can result in serious injuries or fatalities as well as significant costs for companies. Companies that do not have adequate safety measures can face significant consequences, including:

  • Legal penalties
  • Regulatory Fines and Penalties
  • Damage Reputation

Fatal injuries from ladders down in 2020; nonfatal ladder injuries

Frequently Asked Questions

If you can’t find the answer you are looking for here, please contact us.

How do I install handrail and stairway systems?

It depends on the system and components you choose.

For fiberglass handrail and stairway systems, both horizontal and inclined posts and rails are permanently joined using rivets and an epoxy compound. Straight splice kits are equally easy to incorporate, joined by either a riveted connection or a nut and bolt assembly. Our modular posts are designed for conventional side mounting, and kits are also available for installation of either top mount stanchion bases or removable concrete-embedded bases.

For fiberglass ladder and cage systems, the safety cage comes ready for field assembly with predrilled hoops for fast and easy attachment to the ladder and vertical safety bars. Contact us for more detailed installation information.

How do I maintain this solution?

Regular cleaning will keep your fiberglass product free of debris and looking new. Products are easily cleaned by high-pressure water or steam – or just a normal broom. Do not use steel brushes or chemical cleaners on the surface.

How long do stairway and ladder systems last?

All our solutions come with a minimum ten year guarantee.

How much does the systems cost?

It depends on the size of the project and delivery costs. Contact us today! We would be more than happy to quote a price for you.

Is it a sustainable product?

The sustainability of our solutions depends on the manufacturing process used to produce them. They are considered environmentally friendly to some extent for several reasons:

  • Low maintenance
  • Long lifespan
  • Energy Efficient
Why are stairway and ladder systems important?

Our FRP/GRP fiberglass stairway and ladder systems are an ideal alternative to steel equivalents. They are strong, lightweight and cost-effective over the lifespan of the project.

What materials are used?

Real Safety’s stairway and ladder systems are made from high quality fiberglass reinforced plastics (FRP) that meets or exceeds OSJA requirements.

Standard stairway, ladder and cage systems are manufactured with Isopthalic Polyester Fire-Retardant Resin (ISOFR). This creates an exceptionally strong material, which is lightweight and offers long life and low maintenance service and fire protection.

Real Safety solutions are all classified with the highest scores as R13

How to choose the right stairway and ladder solution?

Choosing the right stairway and ladder systems involves several considerations:

  • Intended application
  • Identifying the environment and requirement to i.e. corrosion and chemical substances
  • Cost and installation of the system components
  • Picking the right system: Heavy duty, standard duty or economy
  • Maintenance requirements
  • minimum service load required
  • Determining safety and anti-slip requirements
  • Ergonomics of the product

These steps will ensure that you identify and pick the right components for your stairway, walkway and ladder areas that meet your desired specification and requirements.

We offer our clients a personal consultancy approach to gain an in-depth understanding of the industry they serve and the challenges they are facing, so we can provide them with the best safety solutions.
