Our GRP fiberglass stair tread gratings are lightweight – and strong, and an ideal alternative to conventional steel grating, concrete etc. They offer superior load bearing and are ideal in industrial and commercial settings, where there may be hazards such as liquids, oils, or debris on the surface, which can cause slips and falls.
Stair treads are made of lightweight fiberglass and are extremely durable. We have encapsulated sharp silicon carbide stones into the surface of the glass fiber to provide optimum friction – making them an ideal staircase tread solution for many industries.
Our non-metallic stair tread offers excellent value for money, particularly in high-traffic environments where safety and durability are paramount.
What are the benefits?
Fiberglass stair treads have many advantages compared to similar materials, including:
- Cost effective – GRP stair tread grating only weigh about 1/3 of steel grates – but are equally strong, making them a very cost-effective long-term investment

Falls on walkway surfaces and stairs are a significant cause of accidents in Europe and worldwide. In fact, according to the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work ( EU-OSHA), falls are one of the leading causes of injuries in the workplace in Europe. The agency states that walking and working surfaces, including stairs and walkways are common locations for falls.
