Smurfit Westrock Anti-slip Safety Upgrade

Challenge
Despite their continuous commitment to safety, the Danish plant/facility in Kolding faced challenges in the production environment. Wet areas, glue residues and heavy traffic created slippery zones around machines, stairs and walkways. To maintain their high safety standards, a robust and permanent solution was needed to prevent future slips, trips and falls.
Solution
Real Safety conducted an on-site assessment to understand the specific conditions at the Kolding facility in Denmark. Based on the findings, several solutions have been implemented over the past couple of years. They began by installing walkway covers for their machines and introducing step covers to the stairs near the paperboard machine.
The latest solution implemented is square ladder rung covers. They provide workers with a more secure, anti-slip surface. At the same time, the bright yellow colour enhances visibility for added safety. Made from durable fiberglass, the covers withstand heavy use and cleaning with minimal maintenance, ensuring operations run smoothly. In addition, these covers transform round rungs into rectangular, slip-resistant rungs, making ladders compliant with DIN 18799.
