Anti-slip safety upgrade

Esbjerg’s new marina, located at the newly developed harbour area called Esbjerg Strand, was established and put into use in 2019. Before it was inaugurated, all the old pontoons and Y-bridges were replaced.

Esbjerg Marina made safety a priority and wanted the best and safest surfaces available for their maritime environment. Real Safety supplied non-slip fiber gratings for all the Y-bridges.

Solution

The FRP glasfiber grates were the perfect solution. The gray colour and the small mesh size blend in perfectly with the maritime environment.

The grates will not corrode or rot and have a lifespan of well over 10 years. In all weather conditions and seasons, these surfaces maintain fantastic friction.

Furthermore, ergonomic stability is increased when going to and from boats – even on days with rough seas.

Børge Nielsen, a regular visitor, commented: “It’s a fantastic surface to walk on, and I no longer tense up in my body when walking around here. I’m not a spring chicken anymore, so it’s important to feel safe when moving around the harbour area.”
