Safety on stairs
Did you know that preventing slips trips and falls on stairs is not only a matter of increasing friction on the upper side of the step or stair tread?
The 90 degree angle
When being out of balance or simply too busy, the single most important spot on the staircase is on the angle of the tread. This 90 degree angle can save you from falling if proper friction has been mounted. This is where you will regain your balance in the critical seconds.
Unfortunately, most stairs are only secured on the upper side of the tread - if secured at all. This is why we recommend to double check the stairs in your working environment for friction on the outer angle of the steps.
There is only one way to solve this issue:
The simple and effective method is to add a step cover profile to the existing stair treads. This way you will have an excellent and long lasting safe staircase with highly visible edges and strong traction.
Still, keep one hand on the rail at all times!
